Super Van [ - Super ] Malta

Postby malta transit » Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:55 pm

Hi this mourning whilts going to work, there was a small collision and the trafic wardens diverted the trafic through some side streets. And to my surprise, what do i see ,a replica of the super van Mk2 livery on this Mk1 shown here below.

The van by the sight of it is begining to show that it needs some body TLC as some slightly touched up patches by brush can be seen. Many black finger prints are also visible on the bonnet. An other thing which i have nt found out yet for some of you guys are the wheels, which mysteriously this van sports only one on?

Image

I have seen a similar Mk1 van in this livery but could not catch it on camera as it came on opposite traffic this week and the number plate starts with TDI---. Also i have seen a Mk2 again with this livery. Hope you enjoyed this

Yes I thing I agree with you, they would look more slimmer and tidy. When the phase 2 Mk2 arrived in Malta, nearly every one changed rear lights to phase 2 including my dad's Mk2. We know that Mk2 phase2 are the ones with bigger lights at back and bigger plastic grill in the front. Mk2 phase1 are the ones with narrower back lights and square had lamps in front and metal grill. So what phase is the Mk2 with round headlamps ?,these had 6 slots of air intake on the bonnet and Mk1 Upper windscreen round surrounds and rubber, as these were lead loaded in these top cornners and to my opinion they sealed better than their rivals. Whilst the Mk2 with square headlamps with square rubber on top of the wind screen rusts more from below. And Mk2s with square headlamps can be identified also,as they have 4 wider air intake slots on the bonnet.
Please, someone correct me if not so!

Surely having an odd wheel will cause some balancing issues? It does suit it though.

Hi folks, today i found the were abouts of the Mk2 Transit Ex-Supervan. Unfortunately,as the one pictured above, it has seen better days. The alloy wheels have gone, the side skirts have gone too,and probably the engine to a more economical diesel. Pity!!!!

Today i v seen this Transit and many more, but the reason for putting it on this tread is that it has the same spoilers as the one obove if one notices well.

The back is identical and the side mouldings have the exact shape and prbablly the front spoiler would have been as the the blue and white.

Why would the Grey one have a GB sticker on the back?

These stickers could be found in car acssesories shops,i had one on my fathers cortina Mk2, most ford owners had them. It just mean its a british product. Usually veheciles going overland used to have them on to indicate which country they were coming from.

It was parked opposite a panel beater,as it was a sunday no work was being done. I remember this van being for sale some time ago so probably the new owner was doing some thing on it.
And Ryan is quiet popular in Malta. 8) 8)
