IS IT A SEPERATE KEY FOR THE BONNET ???

no its the same key as ignition key but if you do a lot of driving and dont spray wd40 into the lock barrel it goes really stiff as it gets full of road salt etc

I dont suppose you could copy the fuse allocation for me could you as Im having a nightmare getting the hand book form where I bought mine, its on a X reg so Im sure they are all the same

i'm not sure why your having trouble getting a service book for your transit. a dealer can order you a book on their edealer portal, they need to follow the links to laits storage....they do all the paper stuff.

i'm back in the office tomorrow.......i'll see if i have an old one kicking round. the fuse population was changed when the dash went digital, so having the right book is a must

I think you will find the battery was re-located to under the
seat to make it more difficult to steal. Where the battery was under the bonnet, you only needed a short piece of wire to 'hot wire' the diesel pump (a live to the solenoid allows the fuel to flow), then smash off steering lock, connect the live and 'start' wires and away they went !
I think the same thinking is behind the lock on the bonnet.

Sorry m8, your way off the mark with your assumption.
After a conversation with the guy who actually designed the electrical system on the vehicle I can assure you that theft of a battery wasn't even a thought. The pump on current Transit is a fully electronic affair which needs to communicate with the PCM, supplying 12V to the pump won't do anything at all as it needs constant information down the can line to provide fueling. Even on the older 95 series Transits the fuel shut off solenoid was protected by a shield so powering the pump up wasn't a quick job.

The bonnet lock on the V184 and V185 can be beaten in under a minute if you know what your doing

Upon re-reading I realise I phrased that badly, what I meant was to try and make the VAN more difficult to steal.

Reverting to earlier posts re hydrogen bomb, if you look at the battery 'box' under the seat it has a rubber tube exiting beneath the floor.
I assume that Henry expected this to 'draw' the 'hydrogen' fumes to the outside of the van (venturi effect) like the old SU carbs used to do to 'vaporise' & mix the fuel/air
