2002 Mk6 Ford Transit Motorhome Central Locking

Hi,

I am having issues with the central locking on my 2002 Mk6 transit motorhome. Being a motorhome it only has 2 doors that work with the central locking. I don't believe the van has remote central locking (i dont have a fob if it does) but using the key in either door previously opened the other door as well.

It then started to only work on when putting the key in the drivers door, this would unlock the passenger door but the passenger door wouldn't lock the drivers door. Now I am at the stage where most of the time the central locking doesn't work on either door but very occasionally works on the drivers door.......very confusing!

I have had a look on here and most people are saying that the central locking control module is behind the glove box but the only place I can find one is a red box mounted to the drivers door behind the door card. Can anyone confirm if this correct? I have ordered another control module to try but if anyone has any other ideas what could be going on that would be great.

Also is there anyway to test if my van has remote central locking capability and I am just missing the fob?

Further to the above I have just tried replacing the central locking control module (red box on door card) which has made no difference.

Any ideas welcome!

The red module behind drivers door card is ‘one shot drop’ relay for drivers window….
Central locking module,if fitted is on bulkhead / nsf footwell area behind glovebox
If you pull the top tray out on ns of dash you may see it,will have a blue and a green multiplug.

A lot of motor homes or the chassis they were built on did not have factory central locking..

You may have an aftermarket system instead.
Does it have a door lock barrel on both front doors ?

EDIT, you said using the key in either door,
I’d be inclined to think your van does not have factory central locking…?

Many thanks for the reply. Really strange as I brought a second hand replacement red box off eBay and all the ones I looked at when I typed in the part number were named “central locking control modules”.

It is possible that the key based central locking was aftermarket. It had a Strikeback 2 alarm fitted which I have disabled. It worked intermittently after I had disabled it which is strange.

Would need to see a picture of the module,as it may be aftermarket for central locking ?
Does it say Ford on it or have a Ford part number ?

I’m fairly sure the only Ford module / relay in drivers door was to drop drivers window with one press (where fitted)

Yes,that is a Ford part,I think people have assumed because of its location it’s for the central locking.

It’s not,it’s for electric windows as I said.
Feel free to unplug it and see if your electric windows still work,the one shot drop feature in particular.
