Loss off power on highway

Postby Floris_transit_1994 » Tue Jan 02, 2024 2:29 pm

Hi All,

I have a Ford Transit camper from 1994 with a 2.5 liter turbo diesel enige in it with a Epic motormanagement. It drives fine untill I go onto the highway. Between 90 up to 100 kilometers an hour is starts slowing down. To gain speed I have to release the gaspadle a bit and slowly try to add some more gas. A bit as descipted by the post about the diesel-return lines (leak off mod) which I have already done.
In my search I came upon a connector not being used. It is located near the fuelfilter. See the attached pictures. Could it be a connector for the MAP-sensor? Does a missing MAP-sensor cause the issues I descriped?

Regards,
Floris

That connector is for a water in fuel sensor that fits on the bottom of the fuel filter, they get forgotten with a filter change, I don't think they have a map sensor.
As for the lack of power at high revs, when was the fuel filter last replaced?

Hi Chug,
Thanks for the answer. I will check if the connector connects to the fuelfilter. The filter is replace 2 years (10.000km) ago. This is probably also the course of the connector is not being connected.

It won't fit as it connects to a part that goes on the bottom of the filter, which is missing.
I would try a new fuel filter anyway to see if it cures your problem.
