i had to dig deep and buy a pair of treads for the rear end, was gonna leave the rfx alloys on the front, but my ocd is kicking in, i cant run odd wheels, so im putting the wellers back on the front aswell.been cleaning up the rims where the bead sits on one of the front wheels as its a bit cruddy, got to get the other tyre stripped off tomorrow hopefully, so i can get that one cleaned up too. found a pair of 195 70 14's in the storage facility that id forgotten about, so might chuck them on the rear, and put the 2 new 195 60's on the front, might treat the ol banger to a new pair of front wheel bearings while im at it
oh and i fitted one of them spinny things to the passenger front seat, so when were camping we got another seat to sit on in the back

so a bit of an update, weve been abusing the van recently as a crap carrier, numerous trips to the tip, building materials and all sorts, the inside of the back is like a builders van our last run out in it, it decided it was pissed off with the abuse and spat its bottom coolant hose off dumping all its antifreeze all over the floor, nice
just hope it doesnt have a head gasket issue, as race season is approaching and we need it for towing/camping duties

the latest update is, no it does,nt have headgasket issues, we made it to pod and back recently so all good, i have decided to chuck the square tube axle back on, as my hybrid atlas is still unfinished, i thought it had an issue a while back, so we swopped it for my spare atlas axle, only to find all the noises were coming from the knackered gearbox. as ive been running odd wheels (cant stand odd wheels ) for a while, i will be refiting the type 34 so i can refit the 9 inch revo's, fingers crosssed it doesnt go to sh*t. i will be attacking the paint with my electric polisher, as ive just done the escort and it came up good, so the van will get the same,

got me axle swopped over today, i think the decision to use second hand brake calipers might come back and bite me in the arse, but hey ho, need to give it a road test tomorrow afternoon and see how it goes

so the update is, yes my second hand calipers are biting me in the arse, one is seized and the other the handbrake mech sticks so new pair of calipers it is
gonna replace thr front tyres too as the edges are a bit scrubbed, probably something to do with the chopped coils, also been doin a bit inside, new led lighting with a new fuse box, got a pair of 110amp leisure batterys goin underneath it, and a new split charge set up, and i made a kitchen unit to go in the back that also lifts out, and can go outside when we have the gazebo up

so normally over the winter the van stays roadworthy just incase we need it for fetching and carrying, not this year its going on a sorn and maybe under the knife or grinder
chop chop, going to try and get the hybrid atlas on and also the whole front suspension will be swopped out for either bmw e36 suspension or jag xj6 not decided yet

so ive been a bit busy over the weekend, went into full take the van to bits mode and had a bit of a tear down

so ive been out shopping and got me a set of bmw e46 front suspension, been doing a bit of mock up, but even with 8 and a half inch wide wheels, its 4 inches to narrow, but we have a plan.
but before we get stuck into that, we need to sort the rear end ride height, we dug out my decambered leaf springs and tried them on for size, might need an upward tweek with a 12mm raiser block, but we'll see, trouble with decambering the spring, is it changes the pinion angle, got 7 degrees up, and it needs about 3 down (i think) so ive chopped the spring perches off the axle might need to extend the shock mounts aswell or get shorter ones, dunno yet.

so its been a while since i was on here, didnt go ahead with the big wheel swop in the end, i was getting to the point of choppin up the van , and bottled it
good job really, but more of that later
so van needs a few jobs, oil leak, still coolant leak, think its had one of them forever its getting a bit rough round the edges so needs a bit of bodywork aswell, i thought i would start off easy with a nice dash cluster swop, mk2 granada clocks goin in

so i got my dash swop finished up today, i modded the granny clocks a little bit, as there is no oil warning light in the cluster itself, as the mk2 granny has it in the overhead console part (i think), quick rummage in the parts bin, to my stash of stripped dash spares, and found what i needed, i will let the pics do the talking, but basically gave up my brake warning light for an oil light
dunno if i posted it before, but now have a sierra cosworth steering wheel fitted aswell. will remove the speedo cable tomorrow and start on the oil and water leaks, before i take to the body with the dreaded grinder

so i managed with a bit of help from a good friend, to find a pair of these to buy, will help stop one of my oil leaks i hope

and the weldathon has started, did some more choppin of the wheel arch and rear lower section so i could gain acess to the inner bit and out rigger end that was non existant
