Crankshaft sensor problem Euro 5

Postby cledthehead » Fri Jun 14, 2024 12:22 pm

Hope someone here can help. I have a 2012 Transit 2.2tdci euro 5 and after replacing the cylinder head and refitting the timing chain I have a problem with the crankshaft sensor not inserting fully.
My crankshaft locking tool goes in and out no problem but the sensor will only go two thirds of the way in, I have tried three different sensors and the same thing, On the basis that the holder might be
damaged I bought a new holder but still the same thing. I never had this problem with euro 4 engines so the question is there something about euro 5 engines that I am not aware of or do I have 3 dodgy
sensors?

What have you replaced the sensor or the bracket?

Sorry for the delay in replying, I had no internet yesterday. They are all new, I bought the new holder for comparison in case the problem is with the original installed holder but the problem is exactly the same
with the new holder, the sensor only goes in halfway. the sensor seems to be slightly tappered and thicker at the top so it only goes in so far.
I have now filed down the sensor sides so thai it fits in the holder and I shall try that tomorrow. I will post the results.

I am now convinced the I have the wrong sensor as the sensor is definately touching the flywheel but is too long to insert the fixing bolt. There must be a shorter sensor for Euro 5,
2013.

]Update, I had to remove the gearbox because I need a new dmf flywheel. now the problem can clearly be seen. The body of the sensor (arrowed in the enclosed photo) hits the engine block before the sensor goes in far to get the fixing bolt in. Anyone got any ideas?

Ford Transit 2.2tdci euro 5 FAF6 2013.
I have a problem with the crank sensor, when inserted the body of the sensor (arrowed in the photo)hits the engine block before the bolt hole lines up. although it looks ok in the photo when lined up it is not quite enough.I have tried 3 different
suppliers with the van papers and they all insist this is the correct sensor. The van has been sitting in the workshop for the last 2 years so I dont have the original sensor to compare. I conected everything so I could turn the motor over and
as expected Forscan returned a P0335 crankshaft position sensor 'A' circuit, additional fault symptom (:31)-no signal. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Solved. The bracket had a slight kink stopping the sensor being fully inserted. New bracket solved the problem.

I know this is an old post but hoping to resolve an issue I have and hoping @cledthehead could help.

I have a Peugeot boxer 2.2hdi euro 5 with the ford engine.

I am getting a P0016-62 error when reading codes with diagbox.

Fuel pressure is expecting 300bar and I'm getting around 420bar on cranking but the van just won't start.

I have noticed on measurements engine speed I am only getting around 150rpm.

I have read loads about this either being a sensor issue or timing issue but the van had the chain done around a year ago and haven't been used much since.

I get no rattle or noise from the chain when cranking.

I have replaced all ground straps, installed a new battery, changed.both crank sensor and cam sensor for new.

The cam sensor wiring is all checked via Haynes pros guides and the crank sensor seems to be ok as I'm getting engine rpm readings. (I haven't checked the wiring yet)

I have seen a few posts now claiming bent crank shaft brackets are a cause of non start.

Would anyone or cled be able to confirm the correct fitment?

Of I lift the crank sensor up slightly p0016-62 changes to P0335-64 - Engine speed sensor.

My sensor fits and screws on to the bracket but it seems to be bottoming out on the bracket ever so slightly.

Should the sensor sit completely flush with the fitment hole? Or should there be a slight gap like my photo below?

And if the sensor is reading rpm but slightly positioned to far away from the teeth could this cause rpm to low?

Endoscope view of my crankshaft sensor.
