Exhaust System

Postby mickey boy g » Tue Jul 09, 2024 10:50 am

Hello gang,
I need to replace the exhaust system on my Mk1 Ford Transit Short Wheel Base campervan.
The van has a 2L Pinto straight 4 in it. I have a recon manifold that I have cleaned up which is ready to go.
The rest of the exhaust is hanging on, more gun gum than metal to be honest.

Any recommendations for places in the East Anglia region for where I can go for this?

That looks a cracking example of a MK1.
Just my twopenneth on the exhaust. Watch out just asking for 'stainless' steel. There are many types.
The cheapest is 304. And is more 'less stain'. 316 is better if not the best. Watch out for some fabricators mixing bits and fittings.
If I recall these are the american codes. UK is A2 for 304 and A4 for 316. But have a check on web.
A 304 exhaust will be significantly cheaper than 316, but will not last (maybe 10yrs).

Thanks JustTrying that's really useful information.
It is a beauty. Not so much fun living on the salty Suffolk coast without a garage though!
But at least I don't have to travel far around here to be in heaven, and it's flat.
I'll do some digging into the exhaust replacement using your info, but to be honest 10 years will do me with this van so I'll not go full delux edition on the pipes.
