Ok altransit, I would concentrate on that intercooler as the culprit for now. i have a feelin we are close to solving this problem as i now think it was very similar to my own

Hello . I know this is a 14 old post and maybe nobody see this , but if you do , did you found what the problem was . I have a focus 1.8 tddi , the same simptoms as you did , and I have errors p0167 and p1564 on autocom . All this started 2 years aho when I changed the pump . I know it s an old car , but I use it to carry things arround , and rhe power lose bothers me .

Nope, never solved it

It was getting harder to get an MOT with all the black smoke, and to cap it all, the airbag light wouldn't go out, also an MOT fail, so I reluctantly gave up with it.

It wasn't for the want of trying though
