Google chrome pop-up ad banner at bottom of screen!

Postby MinOMins » Wed Sep 25, 2024 7:57 pm

Anyone get a full width ad pop-up banner across the bottom of the screen?

So annoying trying to browse the site!

How do you get rid of it?

Every time you change a page or submit a post up pops the banner!

Click the down arrow at the left but it still doesn't go away.

It's spoiling the site damn it!

Just get/install "Ublock Origin"....will get rid of all the silly advertising crap. It's free and works very well.

Hi Knobby, never tried that app but I will check it out...

I understand that in order to keep the site subscription free these evils maybe necessary.
I also realise there's a huge amount of effort in maintenance and administration of the site too, being in back office myself in e-commerce.

However, could the banner not be put on the side column and the advertisement content be more attuned to Ford Transits...

Maybe parts suppliers, tuning equipment, recommended lubricants and garage specialists, the list goes on... I wouldn't then mind the odd advert from other types of interested parties so much.

I just think it would be better than that annoying popping-up full width banner forcing me to lose a 1/5 of my screen in scrolling, would be out of the way a bit.

I mean to say, temu bras and knickers may look good, ( not on my old her indoors), but they won't help me fix my Transit!

Ublock works for "all" websites not just our transit forum, including Bookface...I'm a member of several different vehicle/motorcycle forums/groups and the amount of pop-up adds on all of them has become ridiculous and makes them near impossible to navigate easily without being bombarded by pop-ups, some of which cover some navigation tools making it impossible to use the forums properly etc..I used to spend half my forum time trying to get around these annoying adds, 90% of which are totally irrelevant to anything I wish to see....the adds are still there and available if you wish to see them, they just don't show up on the feed. You can allow them if you wish by disabling Ublock.
