Sorry I've no idea ..it's a steering rack with an electric motor on it.

in case anyone wants to come here and guess.

But, i did find something about a software upgrade ..the upgrade has a part number and its: 1939539
Mandatory Software Update To Calibration File CV6T-14C218-AJ REF. A12712876" For Part CV6C 3D070 ME - Transit (42752S)

That itself ..tells me to get this thing working, you are going to be plugging in a scanner,, or you are getting no where

You need Forscan (this is free) downloaded to a laptop or mobile and the interface cable is called an ELM 327 to plug it into the OBD2 port

to learn how to use this ..join the forscan forum

https://forscan.org/forum/

Even with that knowledge you may find out that its a fault with the BCM - body control module ..or a fault with something like parking assist , even wheel alignment and a pile of sensors can cause it to stop working.

forscan will tell you the fault code ..and reason its failed ..if not you put the code into google to find the answers .

Did it turn out to be an electric steering rack ..did you get forscan

Note on most modern transits the diagnostic system groups stuff together ..it may say it has steering assist has a problem because it perhaps needs the ABS system to work, the abs system doubles in with traction control and even a tyre low on pressure , or wrong size tyres fitted, or bad wheel sensor can put the system into disarray.

did you read my answer ..did you take note of what i said .
forscan has many features that will help you out .

other things ..the new rack has to be learned in, if its electric, there will be part of forscan where you can do this ...you need to know how to set things up to tell the body control module that everything is correct ..sorry i don't know how to do this.
and probably no one here knows either - try youtube

The steering wheel ...it has a sensor in the steering wheel that tells the body control module what angle the steering is at. there are sensors on the rack that say where the wheels are pointing...all has to check out.

forscan does not now use ELM327 interface cable, as mentioned 6 months back.
