New engine mounts

Postby meerkatmag » Thu Oct 03, 2024 9:54 am

Since I fitted new engine and transmission mounts the vibration and noise is much worse than before. I'm wondering if the aftermarket rubber engine mounts are too stiff compared to original ford ones? Has anyone else found this? I can't find a pair of original ford ones so not sure what the solution is.

I *think* I have a pair of NOS genuine mk3/4 diesel mounts. I will have a look tonight.

The mk5 mounts are much more compliant - and can be fitted but you would need the chassis and engine brackets too. A hole (or 2 can't remember) in the chassis bracket would also need elongating

Thanks, let me know if you find them. I was wondering about whether mk5 mounts would fit. Does sound like a pain.

I fitted one new one on a mk5 190 and it was more harsh, mind you the old one was rotten
