Try swinging the door back and too, whilst the indicators are on..if they then work intermittently ..then its definitely a break in the wiring loom,
, I'd guess break in wiring in the loom where it comes out of the door post and into the door. as that's where the wires get continuously bent and flexed, which leads to failure.

take the wires off at the nearest connection ..and just have the multimeter in
continuity function with beep, the connection will probably be in the door somewhere..if its ok from there ..then you need to start testing the rest of the loom each side of the door ..may mean pulling wire protection or insulation off ..and spiking the wires with the probes.
