What did you do to your mk6/7 today?

Fitted a PWM (pulse width modulation) speed control for the heater fan.
My resistor gave up the ghost - and I wanted the fan going without dismantling half the cabin to get to the resistor. I had a good look to see if I could get to it somehow but gave up.
I've had a PWM controller handy and added a little knob for fan speed into a blank panel plug just below the regular fan switch. The regular switch still changes from recirculating to fresh air and air-con on and off. The new knob sets the speed steplessly. No more worries about resistor....

Ok so this is an ancient post but my resistor has just packed in and this looks like a much better option than taking the dash out...

My question is how does one go about connecting it? I'm reasonably handy but a bit hazy on electrical issues so any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers, I didn't think it could be that simple..

The question is more how do I go about taking the resistor out of the circuit while leaving the rest of the original control functional as I need to keep the functions for the recirculation/outside air and the air con on/off.

Is it just a case of disconnecting the relevant wires from the back of the control switch or is there more to it?

Pita trying to find inner CV joints but no-one supplies them separately.
They only supply full ranger front shafts complete, of which the shaft and outer CV are no use to me.

I may have to bite the bullet and buy a full shaft to see if the inner CVs fit the OEM spline.

My brother ended up buying a whole drivers drive shaft just for the cv boot

You could of got a universal stretchy one and just lube it up and slide it over the outer CV

There's a cone tool that you grease up to fit the boot over but I didn't think I'd get 1 over the cv as it was, also there was a banging noise while he was driving and when I rotated the shaft on a slight Angle it felt like it was locking up like the gearbox was knackered so I'm taking it that the cv was worn out, he's made up with it now and says it's like a new van so I'm happy with that.I'm and out of the lair suits me

Took the front propshaft off as it was locking up like the ABS was kicking in.

Two new batteries fitted under the drivers seat as they weren't bought together and the van hasn't been used much since September since we moved house and has been used to store our stuff as storage space was a little short, now we've gor the attic boarded we have more space to play with.

Just checking the stock of transits I have and I checked the new 1 for tax and it is £140 then I checked the tourneo which as it happens is a disabled vehicle and £0 road tax. But I'm curious as it is in my name. Just out of interest,would it have automatically changed for any reason or would I have got away with it like that?

My van was used by a school for disabled kids and registered as such. The previous owners informed the DVLA about the conversion to camper and gave us the correspondance they've had with Swansea but the van is still showing as a disabled vehicle after several years. Apparently Swansea aren't too quick on this matter so we have £0 VED and also we can go into clean air zones without paying and I check CAZ's regularly just in case the status of the van has changed and I haven't been informed yet.

I was all set to pay for the tax when the reminder came through when we bought it but it came up as £0, think it's stated on the V5 as a disabled vehicle.

Yes, it's disabled now though I've hacked the drivers side door panels off it

Want to upgrade the Ford standard head unit in our van but at present it works and does the job.

I have been thinking about adding a nice sync3 setup and speedo which is new and smart looking but I expect with that I would need to get a bcm etc maybe go as far as installing a full setup from a late focus or similar but my head hurts thinking about it at the mo.

So when this popped up for 40 quid I thought quick and easy. Hopefully I'll get a good reception as my food radio is a bit fuzzy
