PO6DD & PO6DE LIMP MODE

Postby mcnulty80 » Tue Jan 07, 2025 10:39 pm

Hi guys, I've got a 2016 1.5 ford transit connect, I have a couple of fault codes PO66D & PO6DE, basicailly the van goes into limp when going up a hill/incline switch engine off and on and runs ok again, I've changed the oil pressure valve that goes into the pump and also the oil pressure sensor itself but it's still doing it, is this just an electric issue or something more serious like the oil pump needed to be replaced, any help would be great, thanks

all my searches point to to oil pressure control solenoid

what is it .. from google -- because i had no knowledge of it

An oil pressure control solenoid is a two-port solenoid that regulates the oil pressure in a car's mechanical engine oil pump. The engine's Electronic Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the solenoid, which switches the oil pump's pressure stages based on the engine's operating conditions. These conditions include the engine's speed, load, and the temperatures of the oil and coolant.
The oil pressure control solenoid reduces the oil pressure when the car doesn't need as much oil flow, making the car more economical and improving fuel efficiency.

check the wiring to it or replace it

if its not that, there are many other things that seem to effect it including again dont know why - the injector seals.

also worn main bearings...but that would be from neglect. or the huge mileage

check out other cars forums fitted with this engine --- because i don't think we've had that fault here yet ..so no one has the knowledge ..but they do in other forums with the cars fitted with this engine

engine is known as the 1.5 DV5 EcoBlue if it helps, also fitted in Peugeot's and citroen's

has it really done 334764 kms ! ------208 thousand miles

b BTW think the injector seal thing is something to do with pressurising the crankcase.

there are many many posts on the net about this engine ..but hardly any here

Seem to have fixed this problem, I have put 5w30 oil instead of the recommended 0w30 and so far has not gone into limp mode

Hi Mcnulty80,

Just wondering how you are getting on with changing the oil, my Transit connect on a 66 plate has the same issue, every time i go up a hill it goes into Limp mode, plugged the machine in it says the same code, i gave it a good service new oil and filters was fine for a little while then comes back every day.

Has you code gone away with now, as looking for the oil pressure switch, looks like a nightmare to change, i think it is in the side of the block just above the alternator

Look forward to you reply,

Cheers

Mark
