Way to test is stick a light probe into that fuse then watch what happens when you try turning it over. If light stays on it’s not the same issue. If it off or intermittent it’s causing the key to not be recognised I think. A broken wire between fuse 66 and ignition barrel or something.

That all seems to be clear enough, at least to get the van going again. This is Fuse 66, the 5amp fuse in the top row of the BCM fuse board  (It's behind the passenger fuse box, for anyone looking for it)
The question is, why is the power to the fuse being intermittent? I suppose that needs to be traced back to whatever is supplying that fuse :?

Thanks for posting back Nkxtc 8)

A break in a wire at bulkhead or a faulty BCM is what I thought. The van lasted me about 6 months then sold it with the issue clearly explained and the van still drives today.

I have the same problem on my Mk7 2008 transit. Could you post what you did to solve it. Not sure what you mean when you say to get a live feed from a switch. What did you use?
Many thanks.

Call me Jesus but I'm resurrecting this thread.

So I just had a call from snowflakes owner. He was driving along. And the speedo lit up like Christmas tree, but it kept running,he decided to stop at the side of the road and turn it off,he turned it back on and no lights, the battery saver relay behind the seat clicks and there is power to fan, radio, lights.hazards work but no indicators no main beam either and it won't turn over and the pats led remains blinking steady like no key.

I thought maybe a bump,he couldn't really push it fast enough but it rolled back a few metres, i couldn't attempt to bump it. But the speedo lights all came back,I stopped it then started it up. It seemed ok but I told him to drive it to my house half a mile but he stalled it and it went back to lights out.

I swapped the ignition switch.no.
I swapped the pats ring.no
I swapped the speedo.no
I swapped the bcm.no
I tried a spare key.no

So then i checked f66 bcm. With live added on mine I get the speedo lights back as fine but the pats light is flashing. So I then fitted my A frame and towed it home, bollox for the night

*fixed*

So I spent more time yesterday and today messing about and looking at diagrams etc.

Today I swapped the battery fusebox and was down to the wire as it made no difference.

So then I returned to the original focal point being the earth wires behind the passenger headlight. There's about 6 and 3 locations.

It was bugging me all along that the inner wing area was looking really crusty.Idid pull on the earth wires etc but felt they were solid enough. Anyway just to cure my curiosity the plan was to unsheath the wires and wrap new wire around them all then a fresh ground point.

Anyway I got the pliers out and carefully tried to strip a wire .

The photo will tell you what happened next. Needless to say once I fitted the new wire it was bingo baby. 8)
