Solar system with A910-6

Postby zeljko.petkovic » Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:35 pm

We have recently owned a 1997 Ford Transit 2.5 Rimor Alcoven
We finished the renovation of the device and now everything is working for us.
We are currently installing solar energy.
I have a question about connecting the starter battery to the solar system.
We have two batteries under the hood.
Starter and additional Gel as a home battery.
We have an A910-6 charger and controller
I connected the + wire from the Victron 100/30 to the connector 7 of the A910 and that's how I decided that the home battery is charged via the solar system.
Now I would like to solve the charging and starter battery.
I have a problem when my motorhome stays on the cold place for a long time, the start battery has difficulty starting the engine, and I already have a solar system that can charge the both of battery, but I don't know how to solve it...
Thanks for all ansvers

A voltage sensitive split charge system should solve the issue. Whenever voltage is above (say) 13.1V it will link the batteries (in either direction)

As mat says fit a VSR , voltage sensing relay, the thin snse wire needs to go to the house battery as that thin wire controls the ralay and needs to be on the battery that is receiving the charge (from solar).

Yes, I understand that, but I'm not 100% sure how the current system works...
If you have had the opportunity to work with the CBE A910-6 then you probably know. As far as I can see, the 9-pin connector comes to pole 4 + (positive) connection from the starter battery, and pole 6 is connected to D+ (Signal that the alternator is working)
poles 7,8,9 are the positive side of the gel-home battery.
I connected the positive pole from Victron 100/30 to pole 7 and got the home battery charged from solar system.
I'm thinking, if I connect the same positive pole to connector 4, I'll actually connect both batteries in constant parallel and that's not good... this makes me confused... if anyone has concrete experience, please help... any shematic...
