1999 Transit Door Lock Jammed

Postby Scoopsmcr » Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:49 pm

Hi, I've just taken ownership of a Ford Transit ice cream van and the drivers side door wouldn't lock. I pushed the lock to see if it was stuck and it wasn't, but now it's jammed into position and won't unlock, meaning the door won't shut.

I've tried WD40 and it's not budging. I can't see how to get into the lock either, other than by cutting a hole in the door

Please can anyone advise? Many thanks

when you say it won't shut...

is it open? If so to get to the lock mechanism, take the door card off, take the window channel out (cut the adhesive where its bonded too the door, undo the screw holding the interior handle on, unclip the lock barrel rod, undo the 3 screws that hold the mechanism to the door and it will come out

Do you mean you pushed the catch in the door? If so it should pop back when you move the door lock handle either inside or out. Otherwise do as our Matt says take the handles and door card off and remove the lock
