Turbo stud

Postby DanMK7uk » Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:55 pm

Replaced my turbo today, all went well. Only issue i had was the stud on the Triangular flange of 3, the 2 nuts of that flange on the top no problem.

When i undone the one underneath, only the nut came down.

I was unable to remove the stud with double nut method and heat

So i put a stainless bolt up from underneath.

Obviously the hole is threaded on the turbo, where the stud would usually be, technically the bolt i put in is upside down rather than from the top pulling it down but will i get the same affect? Was no room/ clearance due to turbo housing from above to put it in from above.

All seems ok but can any of you more engineer types than myself think of an issue with this ? Perhaps my bolt is doing bugger all lol, what would be the symptoms of a leak on that flange if there was ever to be ?

Cheers

Aye, like anything i guess.

Thinking about it, the bolt is acting as it would in any case just up from the bottom.

Hopefully wont cause me any trouble cheers
