H reg.
The f in the number could be an E.

Can’t tell you from engine code if diesel possibly a pre banana 2.5 di /turbo di also possibly had the later banana di or turbo upgraded by previous owners.
If petrol 2.8 V 6 or 2.0 pinto also 2.0 twin cam possible

That's just a casting number not the engine number, look around the block where the bracket for the power steering pump bolts on, just above the sump line.
Also if you look on the cyl head just below the thermostat housing you may find a two digit year stamp.

Interesting. It came out of an h reg 4+4 ambulance from Scotland so may have been upgraded. In the Haynes manual it says engine number is on alternator side for the turbo engine this is the number I put on here . Will take the power steering bracket of and have a peek. " Mechanical archioligy"

It's TD 2.5 Lucas pump . There are two separate numbers on the head under the thermostat housing " 15K93" and "C851A"
