Don't really enjoy welding spot welds, I would like a spot welder. I have that 1 there from Al but it doesn't have a timer

Sadly the timer was nicked in one of my many break-ins at my old place :(

They are built in on the current models, I think it is a basic on off relay timer. If I was decent at counting I'd try and do it manually

I'll have to try and wire it up someday

I always thought that if you were any good, you wouldn't need the aid of a mechanical timer, but I never managed to put it into practise. Presumably though, the timer also regulated the amps.

It is now placed and welded and ground and rust treated so next is to seam seal it all then the metalwork is complete. I then need to spray the van race red and then reassemble it all.

With all this work you can’t just go for basic race red, why not do a full custom paint job ‘70’s style something like this but with various shades of red

 Whilst I loved the seventies for many reasons, custom vehicle styling wasn't one of them

I went through all that sort of stuff years ago. It's funny because you get a standard van and want to mod it different. So then you colour code all the plastics etc.but if it was the other way you might want to revert it.

But imagine colour coded handles and trims etc. It can become an eye sore lol. Plus if not done perfectly it looks bad .

So. I'm looking at colour coded skirts. But textured grey uppers and arches etc. Race red sides and front and rear including bumpers. And bumper coloured roof in dark grey. Or satin black.if it matches the limo black windows and wheels. But I can always tweak it. :P

1 of those jobs that's a right pisser.

Fitted the abs pump from the tourneo. It is a later type that adds hill launch assist which basically holds the brakes on until you release the clutch at the biting point. It's a handy feature that I really like, I'm the bollox with clutch control mind but I still like labour saving things :P

But the gripe is losing all the fluid everywhere and trying to be patient with the unions, try and fit them on any angle makes them pinch and you risk threading it and the abs is aluminium. Anyway . I managed to put some cloth under and a tray and the fluid all went into the tray and i used my sump oil extractor too such the fluid out. I used brake cleaner and blue roll on the whole area and chassis leg etc fitted the new pump last night and I eyed up the million pin connector and somehow I'd caught a load of pins and bent them

F*** that, 9pm I'm done. Came back to it today and removed everything and carefully bent the pins straight. Tested it on the connector and 1 bent so restored again, all straight. Fitted it in place and tried the connector and all appears good so fitted all the pipes, mage site none were fouling on others and sprayed brake cleaner to clean it all then stone chip the chassis leg.
Just need to bleed it now.
Arse.

 Race red paint has arrived 8)

I'm going to paint red hammerite in the rear floor area and I'll spray the door jams and inside all of the bits, under the bonnet and behind the doors etc,the theory is it'll just need an external blow over.

I bought 2 tubes of tetrosil seam sealer, I beaded it inside the gutter rails and fingered it smooth. 2 days later it shrunk and cracked, well pissed off with it. I've ordered 2 tubes of acrylic stuff off ebay. Fancy a seam sealer that shrinks on itself ffs

It's not hammerite brand it's the other but I forget lol similar, took 2 days to go hard. (gcm say nothing!)

Fitting the sld panels wasn't too bad but getting the bits was the issue. I've got the tourneo at work which I've stripped the lot from. I sold a door mirror glass so far £10

But I've taken so much off it.

My wings are solid on the outside but look at the inside. I've taken the tourneo ones and headlight surrounds that are roost free so I've painted them in rust milk.

I had to remove the tetrasil from the gutters and I've put the new stuff in and so far it looks lovely.

Wasted 35 quid on the other stuff though :x

My wings looked at lot worse then that, these new ones aren’t holding up too well either, underseal the inside before fitting to stop them rusting again.

I’ve used that rustins stuff before it’s no too bad, can’t remember how long it took to dry.

Were all the channels Al read on the fan to take the sld stuff, just wondering not that I intended to fit one, one thing I have been pondering is fitting a fuel filler to the drivers side so I have to choice of pumps, pisses me off at bp when the greggs brigade block to pumps in a morning, bellends.

Keep up the jolly good work

When you remove the side panel there's a lot missing really. You'd have to have a donor really, metal bits and grommets sliding door and rail etc. Not something I'd recommend unless it was a keeper.

But keep your eye open for a twin side door van . If you're not bothered about the road tax price that is.

The filler might be tricky. The flap would be easy to fit and it's hollow inside too but obviously the pipe would need to be longer as the tank is on the left and you'd have to get it to pass the exhaust. Then T into the existing pipe or create a new entry to the tank.
