Postby DanMK7uk » Thu May 08, 2025 4:42 pm

About 2k boosts comes in lags then comes back in.

New turbo about 1k on it, wasn’t apparent when fitting new issue

Thinking should i check veins not sticking ?

Drives ok otherwise

You need a scanner on it.

in the mean time there are few checks you can do on it
not sure which is which now as you have two vans listed

EGR

check with forscan to see if its opening and sticking etc

did you have waist gate trouble ? have you fixed this properly.

not sure what ive been through with you

leaky boost pipes?

Not sure if was you ..spraying cleaner down the first rubber air cleaner hose is not close enough .. needs to be undone at the turbo to clean it.
says engineer in your profile, so i don't need to add much more. if a mechanical one .
what sort of engineer?

Niether of your vans listed in your signature should have "vanes" on the turbo, (it won't have "veins" unless pumping blood  )...they should both be wastegate type.

Check for sticking actuator arm or its pivot point.

Hello Mark its a new turbo in question.

I have had forscan on. No codes.

Not sure what you mean about spraying cleaner in ? not mentioned that before lol Maybe another poster ?

No boost leaks, and not always apparent. (The lag)

Gas & Electrical.

No turbo lessons for me at college so I have to ask

Cheers

Might have no codes ..but will have "live data" on the EGR percentages open closed etc.
You'll be able to see this and give us some feedback on what you're seeing.

so monitor EGR on forscan whilst under the driving conditions when the fault happens ..better you as passenger and someone else driving.

Trouble is, i don't know what percentage the EGR should be at a given load or revs...as only a guy who had been into diagnostics for enough time to gain experience would know. ,,..but suspect it should be fully closed off on medium to hard acceleration SO; that is what you are looking for ...think on forscan at closed it says -100 percent ..(minuis 100 percent)
If it is closed during medium and hard acceleration ...then we move onto something else .

Haha :D

All fine, moves nicely and slams shut when manually pull the arm across and release

No boost leaks, vac hose all ok

Turbine spins and not rubbing on to housing no movement.

Perhaps its ok and EGR as mark suggests… il have to look into it. Blank the bugger off lol

Won't be a "vacuum" hose, those turbos work on turbo compressor pressure and when the pressure meets a pre-defined level, the wastegate opens....as a general rule, when the inlet manifold pressure gets to ~high teens or 20-ish psi, the wastegate should start to open. You'll notice the little black hose is connected between the cold side of the turbo and the wastegate actuator.

I have mine plumbed into the inlet manifold...works fine.

Also have a triple guage setup on the dash, voltage, oil pressure and turbo boost.
