No, my crankshaft pulley has a V belt for the power steering. The compressor has a 6 grooved pulley. So I need to change the crankshaft pulley to one with both V and 6 grooved (alternator and compressor) and change the power steering pulley to 6 groove. Which I have as I removed everything in the photo above. This is my current setup which I wish to modify for the compressor:

BTW, thanks for the support !

I believe the part I need is this:

Not sure, still researching. I also need to swap the Lucas pump for a Bosch pump. So I need to be certain about the crankshaft pulley.

Im not understanding why you need the V belt? The alternator, water pump, fan etc on all 2.5 Di and TD (with the exception of late mk2 transits) are all driven by a 4 rib belt (4Pk1483 on TD, 4PK1513 on non turbo) , the aircon is driven of a 6 rib belt.

Lucas EPIC or CAV? EPIC uses the same cambelt as bosch. (although the pulley you get will define if you use a 25mm or 28mm belt).

As said I have one like in your pic - but I don't think its what you need

I’m still researching what I will need to add the compressor while still being able to swap from Lucas to Bosch. My current crankshaft pulley has a V belt to drive the power steering but the compressor has a 6 grooved pulley. Like I explained above I need to figure out what combination of belts and pulleys are needed to add the compressor.

If you have a lucas epic at the moment the cam belts are the same.

If you have a lucas CAV, then the cambelt has shallower & different profile teeth and will slip on any post 1991 crank pulley. Aircon was first fitted in 1994

Mine is 2.5Di turbo from 1997 with a Lucas. I have a suitable Bosch with the pulleys. Not sure if I need to change the crankshaft pulley too. So to avoid removing the crankshaft pulley twice, rather fit the Bosch and compressor in one go. Still researching.

You’re correct, the alternator belt is 4 grooved. Has nothing to do with this project.

The crankshaft is V to drive power steering. After removing the radiator to access the timing belt and crankshaft pulley, the question will be if I can use your crankshaft pulley (with V+6 grooves) to turn both the power steering (with V) and the compressor (with 6 grooves) ? Or do I need to replace the V pulley on power steering with a 6 grooved pulley and run a longer belt.

Here are different arrangements:

Fourth photo is my current setup (no compressor)

Third photo is the engine I removed the compressor from

Second foto is the bracket I need to mount both compressor and power steering

First photo is an alternate V belt only arrangement.

I guess it won’t be clear until I’ve removed everything and mounted the bracket to see how it will all fit.

You will be fine with that, they bosch and the lucas at that age use the same cambelt

Mine is as per your images, 4 groove nearest cambelt and V outboard. I think I have seen the confusion now - the AC setup (as in one of your pics) mounts the PAS pump on the AC compressor support bracket and uses a 6 groove pully - running off the same belt as the AC - that pulley is part no 6992638 or 9443a73aa
