Extended cranking - lumpy idle (cold)

Postby Mjfend26 » Mon Aug 18, 2025 10:36 pm

Hi, seen a few posts on this but no REAL answers.

I’ve noticed over the few weeks I’ve owned my transit (2.0 130ps model), that on a cold start it takes 2-3 seconds to fire up, then I get a lumpy idle for about 15 seconds and it sorts its self out.

I’ve also noticed that when warm it feels a bit sluggish.

I get no codes, I done a few live data values, but unsure if they’re of any use to what I’m
Looking at.

First screenshot is while running starting,

and second is prior to starting. -

Thanks in advance.

You need that screen populated by a couple of other things .. what the EGR is doing and what the turbo actuator is doing

you say 2.0L.... what is it the ecoblue or something older

Thanks mark, it’s a 2017 model, so I’d guess it’s an ecoblue engine.

sorry .. this is also a learning game for me .. and i'm trying my best to understand forscan for you .. but your pictures are not good with all these "acronyms" that i don't understand and have to go chasing all over the net to find out what they are / mean

There are ways to make forscan display things in a more user friendly way ..

example -- sorry to be awkward, this is how i want to see it .. note it has wording at the side of each value to describe what it is.. and NOTE: in this one we are seeing all values of turbo and EGR

https://fordowner.b-cdn.net/uploads/mon ... 65231b.png

This is to eliminate the turbo vanes actuator or EGR as possible causes then we can move onto other things ... just being here a couple of years ive come to conclusion this is what you should look at first, as they are up there right at the top of the list, of most the most common failures.

so as in the picture link ..
but with captures for engine not running , engine running .. and medium- brisk acceleration
