Yet another rear door issue

Postby WarthogARJ » Mon Dec 22, 2025 9:21 pm

Hi,
This issue has come up a few times, and there's some stuff on YouTube, but it's not helping.
For Transit 2013 Mk 7 High roof.
UK RWD.

Problem: when my central locking locks, the horn beeps twice.
Indicating that a door is not shut.
However ALL doors are shut.
I've jumpered the side sliding door BTW.
And I KNOW the two front doors are OK.

The issue is due to a faulty micro-switch in the rear latch asssembly.
I've checked the wires, and the two for the switch are OK:
(1) black/green ground: is ground
(2) yellow/orange sense wire: is ALWAYS 12V....eh?
But is obviously NOT broken.

Various possible solutions are:
(1) to try to clean the switch then lubricate it.
No success. Although I haven't removed the assembly to do that.

(2) Using a jumper to connect the two wires.
I did it, no success.
But seems bad to connect a 12V wire to a gnd....

(3) Use Forscan via the OBD and try to disable the warning.
No success, could see any setting that control it.

Next step is pull the assmembly and try to clean it.

But I'd like a wiring diagram.
Complete with pinout of the connectors (one was posted, but not like mine).

Anyone have a wiring diagram?

Ideas on best way to fix it?
Replace assembly?
If I have to, I'll do that, but this thing is just sucking in £££.
I hate to pour anything more in if it's not needed.
I'd like to diable the door sensor.
The double horn beeps are annoying, and the interior lights stay on, and drain the battery.

Thanks.

Yeah, I think you're right.
I had been afraid it was going to be as expensive and as messy as the side-door mechanism, but this one seems simpler.
And cheaper.

Thanks for advice.

Yep, very common Mk7 issue.

That yellow/orange wire being 12V is normal – the switch works by pulling it to ground when the door is shut. When the microswitch inside the rear latch dies (usually water ingress), the BCM thinks the door is open, hence the double beep and interior lights staying on.

Cleaning the latch rarely lasts, and Forscan won’t let you code it out on these. Jumping wires at the latch often doesn’t work because the ajar signal goes through the latch internals.

Real fix: replace the rear latch assembly (used OEM is fine).
Workaround: ground the ajar sense wire at the BCM side (some people add a small resistor), but you lose the rear-door warning.

Sadly, this one usually costs money to fix properly.
