New clutch sticking

Postby LLESNA_ » Thu Feb 12, 2026 8:09 am

I have a 19 plate ford transit connect and 2 weeks ago I had a new clutch, slave cylinder and master cylinder fitted after getting my van back the pedal is sticking to the floor, if I pump it like 10x it feels normal and drives normal but if I’m on a motorway it sticks to the floor like there is no pressure in the pedal

Apart from the sticking it drives okay and changes gears smooth, I did take it back to the garage and they said they don’t know what the problem is, I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be? And if there is a less expensive fix before I have to pay the garage to strip my van and look at it, thanks in advance !!

i dont know , but whilst this is going on keep an eye on the fluid level.. if it goes down its a fault with the slave cylinder inside the bell housing, look for drips where the gearbox bell housing joins the engine.

if it does turn out to be that .. then surly you cant be to blame and have to pay out .

all the best.mark

When this happened to my Focus (similar engine and box) the garage fitted a new clutch, DMF, and slave; I saw the old clutch and it was badly worn. They then had to fit a new master cylinder to actually cure the sticking, so it could be that your new master is faulty
It may be worth checking that the hydraulic pipe between slave and master, doesn't have a restriction or a kink in it, which apparently, can happen.
