Transit electric power side step

Postby Craigy07 » Mon Mar 02, 2026 9:48 pm

Hi all,

Im looking to install a transit minibus electric side step into my campervan conversion and have a couple of questions;

Does anyone know of someone who has done this before? Can’t find any info online.

The van looks like it already has all the electrical plugs and mounting holes, so would this be a simple plug and play install?
If not, then I may just wire it up with a remote relay, does anyone know where I could get a wiring diagram for the side step.

Many thanks,

Craig

Thanks,

Yeah, I’ve read loads of people having issues with them, particularly the sensors and having to delete them from the ecu.

The step I’ve just bought seems to be operating smoothly.. fingers crossed.

Think I’ll wire it up independently just to be on the safe side.
The electrical connector on the step has 5 wires, two slightly thicker wires which Im assuming will be the pos and neg, but not sure what the other 3 are for, possibly the ignition, bump stop, and switch.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the step or diagrams for the harness?

Thanks.

When you get it working keep it clean and give it a good spraying regularly with WD 40 I used the non aerosol liquid one

Yeah, apparently the bushes on the spindles are crap, but they can be replaced though..
Thanks for the advice.

Hopefully someone will have a wiring diagram that they can share and then I can get in about it.

Got it bolted up and working perfectly, fitted the switch to the passenger side seat base.

So much easier to get in and out the camper now :D .

The step looks so much better than any of those motorhome steps that are on the market, and I certainly wasn’t paying £1200 for an AMP electric step.

Cheers.
