park pilot/fob problem

Postby Bourneo » Thu Mar 12, 2026 10:43 am

Hi all.
My '68 reg transit custom remote fobs have both stopped working and a fault has come up on the dash saying "park pilot fault". The normal key works fine, it drives fine, etc.
Any ideas of a cure/reset....?
Thanks guys.
Bill.

To me , looking at the net, i think park/pilot and the fob are two different problems

The only relationship between the fob not operating and the parking not operating at the same time is the main battery or earths .
After checking battery and earths and finding nothing wrong - you going to be diagnosing two different faults.

Google
"CHECK BATTERY AND EARTH'S PROCEDURE"

Google
transit park/pilot fault

Basically saves me typing it all out, when its all there already and in a form better than i can express. all there including reset procedures and what to look for .

Note: using stop/start is known to wear out batteries quicker, not using the van for days in conjuction with stop/start regularly used can lead to faults because the batteries run down

Open rear doors,
Look inside van towards the right hand side, you should see some earth points low down in the corner, near floor on corner pillar.
Usually 2 bolts with Upto 4 wires attached to the terminals.
Make sure you don’t have a wire broken / adrift there….
