wireing issue

Postby neil radcliffe » Tue Apr 07, 2026 2:32 pm

Hi All,

new to the forum, have a tech question. what would be the outcome if someone wired the ABS sensor and put 12v down the 0V wire?

Destroyed if modern one .. you dont say .. year , model etc

far as i know the sensor is a mini generator, very fine copper wire coil . putting 12 volt through it would melt the wire

using forscan you can see if the sensor is making a signal, whilst driving
0 volts .. the sensor has two wires in the modern type .. circuit of 12 volts between the two would destroy it

all the best.mark

If you suspect the sensor is not working, as mentioned by metalworker0, Forscan will allow some diagnostics to determine if it's working or not.....the sensors relatively cheap and easy to replace.
