Ford Says No Exhaust Gasket???

Postby MinOMins » Tue May 12, 2026 9:49 am

Mk7 2010, FWD, 2.2, SRFA.

Hello, I'm replacing the silencer and I contacted Ford for the gasket part number between the cat and silencer.

Ford says no gasket it's metal to metal?

I was thinking that may be alright brand new from the factory, but I have my doubts about it sealing properly.

Anybody have experience of this, would you use sealer, a gasket or go metal to metal?

Thanks

No gasket is correct.

Thanks for the reply Knobby1

Ok. As I understand it then, the surfaces are machined precisely enough for a clean mating and therefore no leaks.

That saves a little bit more money :D

Thanks again and all the best.

Thanks Mark.

Good idea mate I think I'll get a gasket.
The van has the original cat and box on it. Both flanges are quite perished after UK salt roads and 160k on the clock...
It's done well after 16 years, but I think it prudent as the box will obviously have a new flange on it but the cat will still be old. I will research the gasket situation to see if there is one available somewhere.

Thanks again :D

That Pn: 1754007 gasket is listed for Euro-5 only, (Sept 2011> the end of 2014).....yours is 2010 Euro-4.

Found this,https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/188076926928 on eBay and at £9.90 I figured it would be worth a try. I have the option to return it.

On page 15 of the compatibility list it states fitment is suitable.
Ford Transit 2010 Diesel Bus 2.2 TDCi FWD -- FD_ _,FB_ _,FS_ _,FZ_ _,FC_ _ 2198cc 85KW 115HP SRFA;SRFB;SRFC;SRFD;SRFE

Now it looks like I got the last one... :D
