50,000 is a new record .
I'm just going from reports and watching dozens youtube videos over a few years... and reading posts here.. ive sort of made my duty to watch all i find to help others with this
This is what happens in a mild case .( how many rpm, determines how much damage is done)
. Pistons may be a little marked .. but not badly damaged .. you'll be replacing the whole CAM CARRIER ... as this is where the main damage will be .. the lobes on the shafts are a press fit .. and rotate permanently out phase when the belt snaps .. some rockers will usually be cracked...some broken in half.
NOTE : you cannot replace individual camshafts .. as the whole cam carrier and shafts is not meant to/ cannot be disassembled.
As far as i can tell, the only way to check the cam-lobes is to have a brand new carrier at the side of it .. you'll be on a surface plate with a dial test indicator ... seeing how one compares to the other .... well if you have the brand new one .. you are going to use it !
As well as this ,you need to look at the vacuum pump .. as debris block it .which you'll be doing anyway since at has to come off to swap the carrier
A look with enhanced boroscope that twists and looks up at the valves is recommended, if you are not taking the head off.
then you need the whole cambelt kit .. that includes oil pump belt .. and timing cover.. as it never survives being taken off, bolt.. some opt to replace the sump .. as it has to come off .. and can be damaged warped getting it off
all the best.mark
