Combustion temps are likely to be much higher and greater than that produced by a glow plug.
Injecting fuel into the exhaust on an exhaust stroke is going to produce back pressure/sonic pulsing within the exhaust.
Could be they have picked up an idea used on 2 stroke engines to help close the exhaust port.

The rule of thumb was get the air in without restriction - get the exhaust out without restriction. On 4 stroke engines a megaphone was used to assist the evacuation of the exhaust gasses, on 2 strokes the exhaust was shaped to cause sonic wave forms to help close the exhaust port and evacuate the exhaust gasses.
euro5 mk7 transits don't need any of their engine glow plugs working for the regen to work properly , the vaporiser has it's own glow plug...

ANYHOW HAS THE OP GOT VAN SORTED ??????

So I was on a run and the engine started to do a regen.

The led indicators on the dash which I had fitted, did light intermittently during the regen. But they would only give a few seconds of flicker, indicating that the glow plugs were powering, then went off for a minute or two, then another short flicker, and repeat until regen finished.

Obviously I have no idea if the "power to glow plugs" profile would be different under different conditions, but surprisingly to me, they were being used when the regen was happening.

I think the glow plugs in your model are used to put load on the alternator .. to make the engine make more heat .. as well as this the heated screen and heated mirrors come on .

some people have put the LED in the drivers side mirror as an induction its re-generating. that's if they have the heated mirrors option .

all the best.mark
