when you put its part number into ebay - 1470854 - it comes up as one for the gearbox for some unknown reason .. must be the same

Thanks metalworker. All back together and running ok. Is there any real risk having a bolt and some sealant in the freeze plug hole?

i don't know which one you're talking about

if into crankcase no risk

if into cooling jacket .. then its sometimes at 15 psi of pressure

if its at the end of an oil gallery - then you have 40 psi or more of pressure

It's the one about 10 o'clock on the timing chain cover... A couple of inches in from the left side.

The clues are not good enough unless you are looking at the engine upside down

in the plastic cover you say .. why would you have a freeze plug in a tin cover
is it this
