Looking for the pin layout / wiring information for throttle

Postby smileONwheels » Fri Oct 02, 2026 1:20 am

Hey guys, bit of a nightmare here with my 2016 Ford Transit V363 2.2 TDCi FWD.

Went to change the glow plugs and it turned into a much bigger job. Turned out the intake manifold and throttle body were completely burnt out, and the wiring/plug for the throttle body is melted too.

I've got a new pigtail connector wiring to splice in, but the old plug is so cooked I can't read the wire colors reliably. I found this pinout online for the 6-pin throttle body, but I want to double-check before I solder it up and fry the new throttle body.

I’m trying to confirm the correct 5-wire pin layout for the following throttle body:

Bosch: 0 280 750 598
Ford: BK2Q-9E926-AC / 1781960

The original connector/body on my Transit has melted and shorted, and I’ve purchased a 6-pin Plug WPT-1138 connector, but the wire colors don’t match the original Ford wiring.

Does anyone have the correct pin numbering and function for each pin (motor, sensor supply, ground, position signals, etc.) for Bosch 0280750598?

Ideally, I’m looking for a clear pinout diagram/photo showing the connector pin numbers and corresponding wires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

model 2014... if i were to go looking for the 2016 one i would get all results for ecoblue 2.0

Thanks, mate, for the diagram provided earlier, but my van has different color wiring in the loom. The new aftermarket pigtail connector I bought has the same colors as the diagram, but I don't know how to connect them since my factory wiring loom has different colors. attached photo for reference

I'm trying to use a multimeter to check the voltages on the individual wires, but I'm getting confused.

There are 5 wires in total. Two are thick wires: one is **Yellow with a Green stripe**, and one is **Solid Blue**. I think these are for the motor. The other three are thin wires, which I believe are for the sensors: **Thin Solid Blue**, **Thin Blue with White/Grayish stripe**, and **Thin Yellow with Violet stripe**.

Here are my multimeter readings:

**With Key ON, engine OFF, battery connected (Volts):
* Thick Solid Blue: 1.84V
* Thick Yellow/Green: 1.84V
* Thin Solid Blue: 5.02V
* Thin Yellow/Violet: Beeps on continuity (ground)
* Thin Blue/White/Gray: 4.83V

**With Battery Disconnected (Ohms / Continuity):
* Thick Solid Blue: 0 ohms (on 200 ohm setting) / 0.666V on continuity
* Thick Yellow/Green: 0 ohms (on 200 ohm setting) / 0.668V on continuity
* Thin Solid Blue: 163.0 to 234 ohms (on 200 ohm setting)
* Thin Yellow/Violet: Beeps on continuity
* Thin Blue/White/Gray: Nothing / OL

I know the Thin Solid Blue or blue - white/grayish wire should probably be around 0.5V, not 5V, so I think there might be a short somewhere. Can anyone help me match my 5 factory wires to the correct pins on the new connector please?

Thanks!

I have temporarily connected the new pigtail with wiring loom (see attached photo) to test it.

When I turn the ignition key on and off, the throttle body does react. It hums and the valve opens and closes. So, the motor and self-calibration sweep are working.

However, when I press the accelerator pedal, key on, ignition off, the throttle body does not move at all. It should be reacting to pedal movement, but it's completely dead. Note: this Blue white/greyish wire inside copper does looks like metallic/blackish or oxidized/overheated. if shorted, how do I diagnose that wire from the wiring loom. I'm based Nottingham, is there any mobile auto electrician could help me sort out this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

about all i know

twisted together wires are the can bus .. is what they do to ID them .. your first picture today .. that's if they are twisted together all the way down the loom

but your color codes are not what AI is telling me about ford transit colours for canbus.. and when i know so little about these things .. i cant advice or even confirm if AI is right or wrong

but i do know twisted pairs are canbus .. that's about it .

Thanks Mark.

Yes, those twisted wires are definitely the motor positive and negative. I confirmed this by touching them directly to the battery terminals with the throttle body connected, and the motor moves perfectly.

Now for the remaining three wires: one is the ground (Yellow/Violet), and the other two are the thin Solid Blue and Blue/White/Grayish wires. I suspect they might be shorted together.

I'm really confused by these two blue wires because when I test them with the key on, I get 5.02V on the Solid Blue and 4.83V on the Blue/White/Gray. Why are they both reading almost 5V?

Can you tell me how to properly test these two blue wires to find out where the short is? with multimeter or I need to buy special tool.

Well i struggle to understand myself

But here is what hopefully is explanation of the canbus .. which should help you eliminate at least two wires

You must open up the loom to see if the twisted wires go all the way into the loom.. meaning at at least 6 inches or more

https://www.csselectronics.com/pages/ca ... o-tutorial

These wires are the data cables the vehicles nervous system , and form a circuit to every module and ecu throughout the vehicle .. and the colours should be as in this web page above ..as according to page it became world wide standard in 2014 for all colours of wires and how its implemented.

To see what the voltages are ... well that's never mentioned in the article ../ and google AI is giving me conflicting results .. so not reliable source.

what make it worse .. in these PDF'S there are 100 circuit diagrams for a typical custom or mk8 .. and no way of searching them with words to get any results.. as the words on the diagrams are in pictorial form .. so don't get searched.. other searches jut frustrate the results taske a couple of mins to do each search .. often finding nothing related to what you have typed in .

see pics below from custom ecoblue bemm manual

What makes it hard for us and easy for the auto techs

They have a system they they pay monthly for often with names like "ALLDATA"

It has the diagnostic trees on it, visual flowcharts that map out a sequence of logical, yes/no questions to reach a specific conclusion or solve a problem, also the circuit diagrams that they can highlight specific circuits in a different colour.. elimination processes .. that thousands of garages have contributed to, with problems and the solutions, makes life easy for them, but not for us.

So if, an auto tech was looking at the throttle body in "all data".. it will simply have a button next to the results that takes him strait to the wiring .. there, before him on the screen, will then be the circuit for the throttle body, he can press his cursor on each wire, it will illuminate it .. showing its source, where it comes from and where it goes to . the colours the function explanations .. all easy peasy.l

FOR ME - These ford PDF files are anything but easy, 100's of wiring pages, that it crawls through .. i would say almost impossible to fathom out. especially for someone like me who .. does not even own the vehicle, so no huge interest and i'm just doing my best to help you along .

hopefully in the 2.2 mk8 bemm .. should have a picture similar to custom above .. and give some idea

https://www.nl.ford.be/content/dam/guxe ... sit-2T.pdf

mistake - i should have put the one out of that up .. and not the custom ecoblue .. sorry

I'm not sure how CANBUS has come into this - apart from the twisted wires, which the diagram suggests are the motor. That elongated figure of eight indicates they're twisted. And CANBUS wouldn't use anything that large I don't think.

It's surprising the colours don't match to the diagram - and does make me wonder if you might have had some previous repairs?

If you're struggling with the colour mapping - have you looked at C175E on the PCM? You should be able just buzz these through with a multimeter (with the battery disconnected), and map up the pin numbers to the colours.

The three wires that aren't the motor look to be for a variable resistor that is actuated by the throttle body - a fairly crude feedback system. If those wire's aren't in the right order you're likely to have issues.

Based on the damage you've had anyway, I'd be disconnecting the connector at the PCM and checking that none of those wires are shorted elsewhere in the loom. But one should be providing a voltage to the variable resistor in the throttle body, one nominally to ground - or other reference in the PCM, and the sweeper voltage that'll change with the position of the throttle body. Unfortunately the naming of pins on the PCM isn't conducive to knowing which is which!

why not post more often , you are needed here, as you sound like you know your stuff . .. instead of me guessing and having to spend lots of time looking stuff up,, as no one would answer the posts, if i didn't.
