Does anyone know where this retaining clip goes?

Postby paule3d » Sat Mar 14, 2026 12:55 pm

I fitted a recon engine and had to swap all the ancillaries etc. Took me a few days, I put this to one side for safe keeping as it might be important, then after engine was reassembled I found it and totally forgot what it holds in to place!!

Thanks :)

The retaining clip shown is known as an "R" clip... generally never used inside an engine , used on small nuts that are on the end of shafts, or just through a hole on the end of a shaft - example old style turbo actuator.

btw .. my search only found such a clip on the brake booster / pedal attachment

OK thanks a lot Mark, I must have got mixed up and imagined remembering it coming off something in the engine bay!

Vans built between 28th September 2012 and 6th February 2013, there was a recall, the clips, they can fall out resulting in the brake pedal falling off!

also custom models built - 8th October 2012 and 6th February 2013

built at Kocaeli, Turkey
