Is this Mk1 still around.?

Postby Nick » Thu Sep 13, 2007 4:34 pm

Hi.I found some old pics out the other day of a Mk1 camper i use to own around 1994.I wonder if its still around.?It was a Canterbury conversion. Did see it on e bay last year and it didnt look that bad.I think it was in London then.
The respray was done outside one sunny day.Didnt come out too bad.
When i went to view the van,i opened the bonnet and there was a pushrod staring at me that had come right through the rocker cover.!! I put another engine in it and did a bit of bodywork and a few bits of welding and we had a good few holidays out of her.She was very reliable and never broke down once.I sold it on,coz the family was getting bigger and we needed a bigger van. Be nice if she's still about.
Hope you like the pics anyway.

Love the pics, where was the bottom one and when? For a minute I thought I was going to have to tell you your camper is not a camper any more and I have turned it back into a van   .

As she's more than a year out of tax that doesn't look good. Not 100% that she's not around though.

Hi Fred.Ive just added another pic i found, but for some reason its over to the right rather than under the other pics.? never mind.
Bottom one was taken at the Classic Camper National Rally 94 or 95,i think it was at Himley Hall.
Ive got a few more pics that might be of interest.

I took this pic at The Banbury Motorcycle Run,sometime in the 90s.,dont know who the owner was.I just saw it and clicked away.! its a Banbury area reg as well.

Image
This one was bought for £50,i never did do anything with it and it was sold on.Needed a lot doing to it.! Dont know what the conversion was either.

Image
This one,i used for a seasons camping and then moved it on.It was 2.0 v4 and was really heavy and drank like a fish. Was a diesel originally, but i reckon someone had bunged in a v4 just to sell it on.And i bought it.!
Image

This one was a nightmare.!! It looks nice doesnt it.?? It was as rotten and damp as you could get it.There was black, wet wood everywhere. It got scrapped in the end.(not the plate though) !
Image
Hope you like em Fred.I was just going through the old photo box and thought they were worth sharing with everyone.I think the blue camper might still be about, but i dunno about the rest..
Any members seen any of these vans.???

Yeah love the pics. As I said I am not sure if the one you are looking for is still around, it's 50/50 as it's over 18months out of tax.
