Possible venue for meeting next year

Postby fastmower » Sat Sep 15, 2007 8:08 pm

Would there be any interest in a meeting in the Retford, Nottinghamshire area some time next year? Rather than in a car park somewhere it would be in a field (easily accessible for vans though - with plenty of tractors and 4x4's about if necessary!) Drinking water is available and a campfire shouldn't be a problem either. We hold two or three mower races at this particular farm each season, and it's a good spot.

I haven't made any arrangements yet but I'm thinking of it being a weekend do, rather than a weekday evening. Caravans and/or tents wouldn't be a problem. Quiet location but only 5 minutes from the A1. Arrival on Friday evening perfectly welcome, and everyone off by Sunday night after we've cleaned any rubbish etc up - not that I'd expect any of you guys to mess the place up!

Just after an idea of how many people would be interested in attending really at this stage, then I'll have a chat with my mate who owns the farm.

good place near matlock, large fields at the rear for camping, all night fires not a problem, and you can order full english breakfast too

any toilets?

I think Andy has a Portaloo on permanent hire for his pickers when they're working - but I'd have to check. In the past when we've used it at mower meetings we've chipped in a couple of quid each towards getting it emptied.

Bit of a run up from the smoke for you isn't it Fred?

Other benefit of course is that it's free, always a bonus in my book!

As I said, it's only an idea at the moment, but if there's enough interest to make it worthwhile I'm happy enough to make the arrangements. I'm thinking of maybe some time around April/May when it's started to warm up a bit (yeah right!!) Hopefully the Blid' Posse might be able to make it along as it's not so far from them - not sure who else on here is in that sort of area apart from you guys who've replied already.

Anyway, I'll keep a tally and if we have enough possibles I'll see what I can sort.

Cheers,

Andy

Depends on dates, but I might be interested.

How would people feel about three well behaved Collies?

(They'll help with any tidying up, believe me!)
