yes mate bin there tried that!!! :(
the way i did it was to use a single wheel 6 stud axle and fit twin wheels to it- just fits but its not a strait forward job and there are a few little problems with it!! :?

I'm going the other way (twin to single)

What I was told to do, was cut to spring mountings off, turn them around, move them across and mount them back on the axle.

My mate has done this before to his van, he's never had a problem. :)

For me, quite simple, can't fit my alloys on to the twin wheel axle, as my 'bus isn't carrying that much weight, I don't need TW

Yeah, I was wondering why too. At leat there were single wheel LWB as an option, if you can find one of those, shouldn't the axle be a straight swap?

i think fred is right, the floor sections and inner arch extensions + the outer arches were all seperate panels on the van, if you look at your floor you'll see what i mean, and ford just fitted whicheve panels were needed as it rolled down the production line (bloody floor looks like a jigsaw puzzle becasue of this) but the chassis etc were common parts, so should be easy enough to interchange axles :) (thats lwb related info not sure about swb)
