We have a 21 year old loader who is at colege studying to be a mechanic. I am trying to convince him to work on classics when he qualifies. After all, by the time he has finished his course the IT bit will be out of date anyway! At least if you start with 20 year old technology, it can't get any more out of date.

I gota say its far more satisfying when you manage to get an old motor running than it is reading the fault on a newer one from a diagnostic report!

I'm old enough remember the Mk1's brand new! I took a new LWB Mk1 down a motorway to find out "what it would do" and the the suprised look on the drivers we overtook was something not to be forgotten. When the Mk1's came out nobody had ever seen a van so big, they seemed huge compared to the competition.I can't be bothered with the modern things, built in obsolescense and plastic and do you really need alight on the dashboard to tell you that you've not changed the oil filter? Good to see you "youngsters" are still interested in the old stuff.
