i have my eye on a german fire truck, what paperwork do i need to drive it back to the uk, and to export it from germany, i've tried to contact granadadriver but he seems to have vanished, anyone else help out.

for some reason grandaddriver isnt around anymore i have sent him emails etc but nothing!

bj928 what you will need is to get the owner to put visitors numberplates on for you so you can drive it home,there is no export duty as they are over 10 years old :wink:

i would get the vin number and inshure the van on that and also breakdown cover :wink:

the hardest part is talking to the owner if he is ok with english or you have a german speaking person then you are sorted!
you will need the german paperwork (logbook) so you can register it overhere! :wink:

i have mad contact with the owner/seller and the van is on the road, he says it will be ok to drive back to the uk, and best of all he seams to understand english very well, have asked him about plates and docs and he not know, but have now asked him about visitor plate, waiting reply.

Last time i checked it was about 450 euros for temporary plates and two weeks insurance.All available at post office,check post office opening hours though :wink:
