If anyone, like myself has tried to locate replacement front spring hangers for a MK2 Transit then you'll know they just don't exsist!!!!
So what to do?
I bought some mk3 (86 - 91) spring hangers to see if I could butcher them up to make my own replacement ones, but found that these are a closer match than you might imagine. You will have to make a minor modification to the hanger and chop around one and half inches from the front. Also remeber to drill some holes in the hanger to help weld it into place.
Grind off the rememinents of your old hanger and repair the chassis where needed. If you are fitting a new spring hanger then your front cross member will also probably be rusted. don't bother repairing this just yet!
If you fit the new hanger to the leaf spring first and gentle release it off the jack the hanger will find its own position, let the new hanger protrude into the front crossmember. Simply weld this into place and repair the front member upto the new hanger.
Job done! Anything is possible!
