mk2 camper

Postby MRspivvy » Thu Jan 12, 2006 4:07 pm

My mk2 is an autosleeper campervan, I also have a mk3 L reg panel van. would it be worth swapping the interior from the camper to the van? I want to return the mk2 to a standard panel van with no windows.

Yes, I'd prefer it without the side windows.also it's too thirsty to go very far to go camping. I dont want to put a diesel in it when I can just put the camper gear into the mk3 diesel. I reckon some woodwork will be neccessary due to the differing body shapes of the vans, but it looks easy enough-apart from the lifting roof, anyway.

There are plenty of MK3 camper conversions on the road so I dont see why you wouldnt be able to swap it all out, providing you have the technical knowhow of course, like you say it will mean some woodworking, but if you take pics at every stage of the strip down thn you should know where to put everything back.

Campers are more often than not worth more than vans anyway, so financially it cant really be a loser :)

Is it? is that what they called a "new generation" van then? apart from the lights and grille I couldnt see a lot of difference between it and a mk3...
I've had a play with the engine and tweaked the fuel pump slightly. no smoke, but what a difference! it was overtaking smiley front ones going up the hills to merthyr. could be beneficial NOT having an EGR valve too..
