Dual mass flywheel and also a clock problem .

Postby bestyman » Sun Feb 17, 2008 1:23 pm

Hi all,

I have a 53 plate connect with a tddi engine that suffers from clutch judder ( I think ) . A mechanic has quoted me £220 for a clutch fitting but said it will be nearer £500 if it has a Dual mass flywheel. If its gonna cost £500 I suppose I will have to live with it . Does anyone know if it has a dual mass flywheel please?
Is it 100% the clutch or the DMF thats causing the judder? It seems to be mostly on the offside and if driving slowly it wont happen but when in a hurry its a judder/ knock knock when setting off.

One more thing, the clock wont adjust , nothing happens when I press the button ( ignition on or off ) and ideas?

Thanks in advance.

It wont have a DMF, so it shouldnt need a flywheel unless the face is badly scored (but very unlikely :D ) but I would have a good check of the lower gearbox stabilizer for wear as they tend to knock against the subframe when pulling away quickly

As for the clcok, are you pressing the correct button :?:

Thanks for the reply . I think I will have it looked at then . What is a lower gearbox stabilizer and is it a big job to have it replaced?

As for the clock Im pressing the correct buttons but nothing happens. I keep meaning to remove and refit the clock fuse at midnight in the hope that that would work.

Cheers

Have a look underneath and you should see a mounting like this.....

Its a simple job, takes about 15 minutes, but make sure it goes back in the same way up as it came out

As for the clock, pull the fuse at midnight is a good plan :D
