Oil Warning light

Postby fremsley » Tue Feb 19, 2008 2:44 pm

Hi all,

I've finally got my landliner - Blimey I'd forgotten how different it is to drive a V4! The orange oil light keeps coming on imtermittently - flickering on and off - mostly stays off when idling. Is this an electrical issue (I hope) and can someone advise a totally mechanically challenged individual such as myself how to resolve it?

Cheers

Check the connection on the oil pressure switch.

Excuse me ignorance but where is the pressure switch? Anywhere near the filter/dipstick - I can drive 'em, but that's about it! It does seem to flicker on and off when hot or cold - sometimes stays on then drops off and then flickers - revving the engine does make it flicker more.

Also i made the mistake of having it hand washed at some soapy joe's car wash ( o get some of the moldy green off) - now the internal striplights in the back won't come on - any ideas - fuses - wherever they are!

Cheers for all your help so far.

Can't remember where the oil pressure switch is, but the fuse box is under the dash on the driver's side.

Anybody any idea where I look for the oil pressure switch and check the connection?

Just looked it up, it's on the block above the oil filter.

Thanks all for the advice. i had a wriggle around with the wires near the oil filter and hey presto - no flickering oil light. As for the rear electrics. i found that there is a cutoff switch under the dash which i must have knocked with my legs - so there all working now. Soon as i get a working camera I'll post some pics - she does have a terrible 70s colour scheme of beige and brown (brush painted)- i would l keep it if it were original, but i believe the original colour was a khaki. she may become a brushed steel machine!
