Those caps will do the job just as well 8)

Locking nuts aren't just for alloys, most wheels have around a 60 degree taper at the stud/bolt hole, the only locking nut specifically for alloys are the ones with a built in flat washer.

I've got a spare set here if you want em (actually I have two spare sets  ) New set £10, used but good set £5.

You know it would take me forever to send them so if you want them at the drag meet let me know

Heres an idea for the interior roof, one I've had for sometime, but its been too cold and wet to rip out the roof panel over the winter. I already have some blue E L wire which I have used before for kiting, but thats another story. For those of you havent come accross this stuff, its a thin flexible wire that can be sewn into fabrics and glows when a voltage is applied, loads of it on ebay... I want to cut two recessed panels into the roof and fit it around the edge to make the panels glow blue, heres a little sketch...

I now have 4 centre caps for the rims, but Im not happy with the distance they stick out from the centre of the wheel, so Im having them cut in half, flared and then rechromed, I'll update these when I get them sorted.
So! on to another project, the front spoiler/spliter. Captain Hook gave me a an old bumper yesterday and I had a close look at the photos Rover posted last year... I decided to cut the bumper on the curve, just seemed like a good place to start, so I measured off 11cm along the length on the bumper and cut it with the jigsaw, a quick clean up with a power plane and your left with a great finish in seconds.

After offering it up to the front of the van, it needed the ends shaping to a similar angle of the existing bumper; a couple of V's where cut in and then the area was heated up with a paint stripper to fold the end in. A soldering gun was then used to weld the back to keep everything in place. I then heated the joint up and smoothed it out using a plallet knife to make it reasonable smooth. A peice was cut to fit in the towing eye and again welded on both sides.

Some Isopon bumper filler over the blanked off towing eye hole and some over a couple of distortions on the ends where the heat gun has been, ready to be sanded down tomorrow. You can also see where I marked the next area to be cut to give a more spliter look. I will again offer it up to the van as I still think its a little too deep, but I want to set some spot/fog lamps into the bumper awell and Im not sure if I will set them accross the joint or just above it. Not sure on how to paint this kind of plastic, you advice is welcome.

well i think you scotch brite the bumper 1st them put some plastic primer on maybe 2 coats then some normal primer then rub down in beteen coats but only the normal primer till you get the flat look finsh this is what iam doing at to with mine as its got some deep scraps on the side so i body filled them

maybe some one on here can tell you how to do it but maybe say what i said how iam doing mine :?

Cracking work as always Alan 8)

You need a can of Grip4 to help the paint adhere properly, then depending on how smooth you want the finish (smoother finish=more sanding) you need several layers of primer/filler, then a couple of top coats (twin pack or celly)
