Oil in the water! help needed

Postby Lee J » Mon Jan 23, 2006 10:10 am

Hi there, as you are aware I've just had a new engine fitted in my 2001 new shape tranny. I came to check the levels on saturday (one week after the transplant) and the oil level was fine. However, I went to check the radiator water tank and it looked like it had oil in it. When I took the lid off, there was oily looking stuff on the underside and I peered into the tank and it really did look like it had oil in there.
Please tell me there is some sort of coolent that can look like oil to an untrained eye... please?

If not, gulp, any ideas on what it might be? I will be taking back to the garage as it is under warrenty.

Lee I would take it back mate, they may have done something wrong but there could be a simple explanation, I am not up on the new vans but I am sure I read somewhere on the Forum that there is some other way of oil getting into the water other than what I would have though, a blown head gasket. Take it back anway, it's there problem.

Why did it have an engine fitted?

Where was the engine from?
