Help! Can somebody tell me what i've got?!

Hi there. Just bought a Mk2 Transit beavertail recovery truck, and i've come across a big problem. When i came to insure the truck, i was asked what specific model it was. Thing is, i haven't a clue!! On the logbook it just says 'Ford Transit' no mention of if it's a 120, 190, etc.

I think it started life as a 2ltr petrol with a 4spd box, as theres still a choke lever, and the gearbox pattern displayed on the dash. It now has a 2.5Di with a 5spd box.

I've attached a photo of it, on the long shot that somebody will know what i've got!!



Has anyone else had this problem before, or is it just me being stupid?!

how do you know its a 190 ?? i bought a spec years ago thinking it was 190 turned out to be a 160

Ok, ok, i was being stupid. After my first post, i thought why not just look at the VIN plate. So i went and had a butchers, and lo and behold there it was!

Gemini was right, Transit 190.

I think the front has been replaced at some point for a later one. It is fairly tidy, but theres a bit of corrosion at the top of the cab where the roof meets the B post, and corrosion around the top of the dash. It isn't mint by any standard, but i'm gonna tidy it up as i use it.

Gonna put a shopping list together this weekend....

We did the 'nose job' on a V reg, from a phase1 to a phase2. If you can though, return it to original as the phase1s are getting rarer. BTW the driver's mirror should be on the wing, I wonder why it's not, and where the holes for it have gone.

i think they did mate as there is a reinforce plate that the mirror bolts into

Ah that would be why both doors now have shear cracks where theres no reinforcemant for the wing mirrors then!

Are the mirrors both on the doors then? The passenger side is supposed to be on the door.

Yeah, both are mounted on the doors. Need to do something with them soon before they drop off!

yeah the driver's should be on the wing, the reason I asked was if the passenger was on the wing, it could have been LHD at some point or the wings might have been!
