How many transits? Mk5 you say?

OK, this is an ongoing annoyance with me. Especially when I try to get parts from a spares supplier (usually when I end up being served by a guy who is younger than the vans!) This is the way I see it.........

Mk 1 phase 1 1965-1971

Mk 1 phase 2 1971-1978

Mk2 phase 1 1978-1984

Mk2 phase 2 1984-1986

I get a bit sketchy after this, cos that's about when I lost interest......

Mk3 various phases 1986, including new gen,-currrent

Mk4 current.

No Mk5, as yet.

Any comments? Anybody? Even Ford don't make it a 'new' Mk every time they put a new shaped indicator or bit of trim on basically the same body shell. If that was so, we would be on the Mk10 by now!!

What really p*sses me off is when I track down some vital spare somewhere, or even a whole van, being told it's a MK2, to find that the lemon has completely missed off the Mk1 in the count, and the thing is or from something in the mid 90s. BAH!!

Yeah i get what you mean! When i put the catagorys in mk1,2 easy but people tend to call the 95+ smiley front the mk4?? even though its almost identical to the 86+ models
Thats why i put the years on aswell, i was going to call the mk5 new generation!!! but ive heard people refer to the smileys as that too!!

Try tracking down spares for the Mk2 facelift model like ive got ! It only run for 2 years, and the bits are different from the models before, most notably things like headlights and trim....

Ive been searching ebay since I signed up and buy bits whenever I come across them - so if anyone is in desperate need, give us a shout - I may be able to help

Now, if you throw a late registration into the equasion, you really come unstuck. We have a 1985 chassis cab fitted with a Luton body. The original owner/orderer from Fords ordered, waited, recieved delivery (unregistered) and promptly went bust. By the time the liquidators sorted it, it was nearly 1988! For this reason we have an extra, extra LWB (15' 6" floor length) Mk2 phase2 Luton with an E reg plate! At least she isn't a conversion!

Is it me, or is it that nobody KNOWS if there is a MK5 or not? Confusion, Ford? I notice that there hasn't been any postings in the MK5 Section...... Also if tha'ts the case, what happened to a section for Mk4?

OK OK ill change it to Current Transit!!! or V184 / V185 that will confuse them even more
but the reason we havent any mk5(mk4) postings is that as we are new and not in google etc yet the only people on here are by personal invite by either mark or myself and i only know 1 mk........4 enthusiast and he has no computer yet!!!
By the way to get us onto google (and neerer the front when were on there we need links to http://www.fordtransit.org/forum from other websites - so if you have one get it on!!)

Ok Ok its mk4 but look at this http://bap.dominohosting.biz/bap/bapdb0 ... K5%20(9/94>3/00) its not only me that calls em mk5's they must think were on the mk6

also while your on there site have a look at the panels they can get for the mk1's and 2's

I havent used them for a good few years, but the prices seem pritty good
