customising tips

Postby glenn73 » Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:21 pm

just after a quick few hints guys, had my mk 5 swb/shr since august last year&she is very much a working van,but i would like to keep her smart.
I'm thinking of colour coding bumpers&door mirrors etc-is it possible to spray the existing standard grey plastic front bumper&rear quarters&black plastic mirrors?
And if so,any special primers or fillers-or is it a job for a bodyshop?
Any tips would be most appreciated,
cheers,
glenn :!: :)
Forgot to add, she's standard ford white.

Give it a light rubbing down to key it, then you need a plastic primer (Upol grip4 or similar).

Then several coats of high build primer depending on the kind of finish you want, then wet flat it with some fine grade wet n dry.

Make sure its dust free and paint it the colour of your choice :D

If you are going for a smooth high shine you will need to wet flat again and then 'mop' it, personally I prefer to have a contrast in textures so I dont go for a super smooth finish.
