Wow.

That transit is badass. Im very impressed at how clean you managed to get it. I spent much of today, on my hands and knees with the hoover and dustpan and brush. Its still nowhere near as clean as yours is! In fact, I think if I pressure washed the inside of mine...... Id end up with a Flintstones style vehicle (it would be foot powered)

I'd love to see it when it is all properly finished :)

Mike its all underneath mate on the outside, you need to dip the clutch and select 4th gear and let the clutch out again and the drive from the prop is transfered to a oil cooled compressor system which it has twin air tanks on the underside, and a oil cooler and electric fan where the spare wheel was.. all in all its a fortunes worth when fitted..

Well todays been great our lass decided to go out with her mother all day so it left me in all day so some more progress on the transit had to come.. here it is. ive always thought the rear load area cill step bit was crappy to look at, scrapped scratched and someone had painted the top of the bumper with that manky non slip paint that has grit in it, so out with the ols angle grinder and wire wheel to strip it all off..

This is what it started off like.

Hard to see but its badly marked and stuff.

Primed and a base coat of white on here.

Fitted back up, been nice and warm today so paint dried great, painted rear bumper as well nice a fresh satin black.

Image

Then i knocked up a 4.5mm chequer plate step top which i bought the plate already for this job.

Image

Also fitted a anti scratch vynal kick strip saves it getting as bad as it was, also did the front cills as well tidyies it all up a bit. and got my load area rubber matting fitted as well, bargain at £30 and kick strips £8 for the lot good old VW

And one of the rear bumper with the doors shut.

overall i am over the moon with the rear end has made it look that much cleaner,,

what you reckon :?:

That looks really clean :)

Just out of interest, what are those taps on the left hand side for?
Also, how hard is it to fit a tow bar and socket doodah for trailers? I might need one in the future so it will help to know what sort of price and amount of time I'm looking at.

Thanks in advance.

Ucof the taps your on about are actually AIR LINE connectors this van has PTO driven air compressor underneath the body, they will be relocated inside the van in time as i think they are unsightly on the outside but are in use for my windy equipment when racing etc..

Towbar wise never done one on a tranny before but mine aint hard to fit as its part of the safety rear bumper, towbars are normally easy ish to fit if your half handy with the spanners, 7 pin electrics for trailers and stuff is easy instructions are on back of packet for the socket and connections are all near the lighting units, it get harder when fitting split charge stuff for charging caravan batteries and stuff..

Time wise fitting yourself for the firstime at home i would put half a day asside, if you have fitted them before like me 2 or so max, costs would'nt of thought anymore than £70 for basic bar and electrics going up depending on what your requirements are etc..
