Removing a stripped torx bolt

I tried drilling the nut out...and the drill ran out of batteries
The hole for the bit was a little larger however, so I put the H6 bit in and gave it a big hit with a hammer.
Then tried unscrewing the nut, only for te now hammered in bit to turn in the nut, stripping the head more

I think I'll wait for the battery to be recharged, and I just drill the f*cker out.

I thank you "Nutella" fer the post you have managed to frighten the brown stuff outa me as I intend to do mine this week & they all look pretty ropy,any problems may try just pouring JENOLITE around the runners in the hope it soaks under them.

I got my rounded one out with the aid of the next size up spline bit hammered it in and it was stubburn but it came, spline bits tend to bite in quite well in this situation ive found.

Here's what I was using yesterday as I have not many proper tools for the job, and had to Macguyver something together:

(please forgive the lino pattern, it's only a temporary cover for our dining room table )

These are the individual tools, the bit, the bit connector and adjustable spanner.

However, now the battery for the drill is charged up, I'm going outside to drill the b*stard out.

BAH!

Having drilled through the bolt, and hammered the end of it off, im now left with a hole in a bolt in a hole in the van.
There's no head at all now other than a round one, and I don't have a square peg to put in it.
The bolt seems to rotate slightly now when I move the sliding rails, but there is under an inch of movement before the floor ridges block it.




I'm giving up on it now.

Drill the head off with a bigger drill bit, but don't go all the way through.

You want to buy yourself a proper socket set and a box of torx heads, adjustable spanners are a sure fire way of rounding nuts off.

Personally Id drill it as Mr Puk sudgests, if it were in a differnt place id sudgest heating it with a proper gas torch but with all the flamable stuff in the cab it wouldnt be my first choice.

just chisel the fu***r off and before you say you dont have a chisel use a screwdriver and if you dont have a hammer use a house brick
